The skills for finding information are called Information Skills.

What are Information Skills?
The skills you need to find relevant information when you need it.

Why do I need to learn this? I have a reading list.
In a few years your reading list will be out of date. There will be new ideas, new theories that you need to know. These skills will equip you to stay up to date while you are studying, and throughout your career.

But can't I just use Google?
Generally speaking, you will not find scholarly articles from peer-reviewed journals freely available on the Internet. If you only search the Internet, then your assignments will not be good enough, and you certainly will not be able to publish an article only using what you have found on the Internet.
